Before I sum up day 5, I want to say thank you to all of you reading my ramblings. I really appreciate the interest and the fact that I’m not posting updates in vain. Thanks all. I hope to repay some of you by cooking for you sometime. Maybe you’ll eat at my future bistro if/when it materialises.
Onto day five. The day when dhaltjies (chilli bites) finally made an appearance at iftar. Mom emailed me telling me she’s craving it so I went home and made some. I know some families have to have this at every iftar but it’s not something we have regularly. We have it about twice (three times at most) during the entire month.
I finally also cooked a meal for after iftar. Nothing fancy. Just pitas filled with chicken, mushroom and spinach. Because this was on the menu, it was only daltjies, dates and a some soup to start. After eshai salaah (evening prayer), we had our pitas.
Oh and I had Taystee wheat and coffee for sehri again.
