I received a call from a telesales operator offering me a cellphone contract for a discounted rate. I currently have a cellphone on contract. I do not need a new cellphone (mine is fairly new) and I most certainly don’t need another contract.
Here’s how the conversation went.
Me: I don’t know what I would do with an extra phone.
Her: Maybe there’s a family member you’d like to take the contract out for.
Me: I have no siblings. I have no children. I have no spouse.
Her: Uhhh…Ummm…Uhhh. So you’re not interested then.
Me: That’s right. Thanks so much. Goodbye.
After I ended the call, I felt bad for making her squirm and feel uncomfortable. The truth is, I have many people in my life that I love – family and friends. But really. They can pay for their own cellphone contracts.
