Going out for a coffee with friends is one of my favourite things. Hey, I’m easy to please (mostly). Anyway, even just buying myself a coffee when I’m running errands is one of life’s small pleasures.
Every now and then I like to indulge in a Woolworths coffee. Their baristas are super friendly and the coffee is great. My friend Lauren says it’s also one of her favourite go-to coffee places.
When it comes to sitting down, I have many favourites. I quite enjoy Myatt Cafe & Chocolatier at the V&A Waterfront. Their coffee is decent and their meals and cakes are delicious.
A new favourite of mine is Kahvé Road in Cavendish Square. It’s got a great atmosphere and lovely coffee and meals.
I asked a bunch of people what their favourite coffee spots in Cape Town are and here is who made they cut.
JARRYDS
“Incredible coffee, consistently excellent food (with all day breakfast), lovely staff and there is always at least one dog there for me to pet (NB).” – Kelly
SHIFT
“It’s my local and their pastries are amazing. Run by an Italian South African family. Good music and cool vibe.” – Nick
TRUTH
“For the experience, and the coffee. Bit crowded and noisy and hipster though.” – Roy
MOLTEN TOFFEE
“Such good coffee it’s insane. Also very pretty, quaint spot/ the atmosphere and the ritual of going there every Saturday.” – Marisa
ROSETTA
“Their main shop is in the Woodstock Exchange but you can get their coffee at a few places (The Creamery, and The General Store for example). Their blends/ varieties are just so tasty. Their main shop is run by hipsters who know a LOT about coffee.” – Nick
GIOVANNI’S
“They’re in Green Point and they’re always popular, small Italian style coffee and yummy deli items.” – Roy
