Winter has well and truly hit Cape Town (and many other parts of South Africa) full force since the weekend. The icy weather has made me want to huddle under my duvet and not face the day. Unfortunately things like work get in the way of these plans.
On Sunday I wanted to do as little as possible. I just wanted warmth. However, I eventually moved from my bed and managed to add some chilli and feta samoosas to my freezer. Because we were so filled up with the previous night’s iftar we kept things really simple that evening. Of course there was soup – you can’t pass on the soup in the cold weather. After eshai we had smoked mackerel fillets, salad and a toasted roll.

Smoked mackerel and salad.
Yesterday was another cold day. When I got home I decided to make some mini apple turnovers for the freezer that I’ll bake over the weekend. I also really wanted warm food so my mom made a pot of delicious chicken curry.
Tonight we still had curry leftover so I turned them into chicken curry wraps and served with a salad.
What foods do you want now that the cold has really made itself at home? What was on your menu the past few days? Tell me in the comments section below.
